A memo from the desk of the GEMA President, Pastor Ray Mensah.

President’s Memo

Categories: News

Dear Beloved,

It is with great joy that I write this first in a series of messages (Form the President’s Memo) that I would be sending out periodically.

I want to first of all thank you all for your prayers and great support and appreciate you for  the responsibility entrusted to us to lead GEMA for the next three years.

We are totally committed to this Servant Role and Task and will do our utmost best to move GEMA forward and to serve your interests as the members of GEMA.

There is no GEMA without you. There is no GEMA without the Member Organizations.

We therefore want to continue to add great value to what GEMA offers you.

For the next three years,  we have a few things we seek to focus on and achieve in the course of our three year mandate by the Grace of God.

These include:

Focus on continuous implementation of the Objectives of GEMA
Mobilizing Prayer for Missions
The continuous capacity building of Mission Leaders , Missionaries and Staff of Mission Agencies
Strengthening the avenues for Collaboration and strategic Partnerships amongst Member Organizations
Partnering with GEC for a National Evangelization Plan
Partnering with GEC and the Churches for a Target number of Ghanaian Missionaries to be sent within a specific period of time
Mentoring – the next generation in Missions and Evangelism
Continuous Mobilization and training of the Ghanaian Church in Missions
Developing a viable Missionary Training Program
Raising a ( Missions) Sending Community in Ghana
Deepening our Channels of Communication
Exploring avenues for financial sustainability for GEMA Member Organizations
Strengthening our relationships with Strategic Partners, Regional & International  Mission Networks and Churches

A good friend involved in Missions in another country forwarded a piece written by Ray Ortlund, Senior Pastor of Immanuel Church in Tennessee, USA to me just yesterday.

“There has been a long tradition which sees the mission of the Church primarily as obedience to a command.  It has been customary to speak of ‘the missionary mandate.’  This way of putting the matter is certainly not without justification, and yet it seems to me that it misses the point.  It tends to make mission a burden rather than a joy, to make it part of the law rather than part of the gospel.  If one looks at the New Testament evidence one gets another impression.  Mission begins with a kind of explosion of joy.  The news that the rejected and crucified Jesus is alive is something that cannot possibly be suppressed.  It must be told.  Who could be silent about such a fact?  The mission of the Church in the pages of the New Testament is more like the fallout from a vast explosion, a radioactive fallout which is not lethal but life-giving.”

This might sound controversial to some people, but it could also change in some ways how we see and do missions as well as how we mobilize the Church.
We have the best news ever. We have the greatest Commission and Assignment ever.
Hallelujah!! We should be excited to sacrifice and serve the Lord with all of our being and even our lives for this greatest cause on earth. Really exciting!!!
Halleluyah!! Lets celebrate that you and I are called to share this Great News!!

I am very glad to announce that our partnership with GEC continuous to  blossom and continues to grow stronger. Praise the Lord.!!! We have many similar objectives and we seek to work together more to mobilize the Church for Missions.
Our Mobilization Director, Rev Dr. Godwin Ahlijah and I have been in some meetings with the GEC Director and are both also part of the Planning Committee of two GEC Conferences.
